On Thursday afternoon, crews responded to a brush fire near West Cora Avenue & Courtland in Spokane. They found a fire burning a partial area of a hill, near some homes. Fire crews say at least one home was threatened by the fire. As fire crews arrived on scene several neighbors were seen with garden hoses trying to keep the fire from coming any closer to the home. Neighbors tell KHQ that they heard a loud "firecracker whistle" then seconds later the hillside went up in flames. Fire investigators say they are looking in to those reports. No one was injured in the fire and no homes were damaged. Fire crews have not yet determined if the fire was accidental or intentional. It against the law in Spokane to posses or light off fireworks within city limits.
