SPOKANE, Wash. – Families across America are gearing up for the 4th of July, a holiday to celebrate our independence. But, as is often said, that freedom doesn't come free.
Thousands of brave men and women have lost their lives fighting for our country, others have returned home with physical wounds, but far more have come home with mental and emotional scars.
That's where "Shepherds For Lost Sheep" comes in – a nonprofit organization that helps connect veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries with service dogs. The dogs wake them from nightmares, calm them from stressors, and help veterans acclimate to daily life as a civilian.
