MULLAN, Idaho - An on going effort by some people in Mullan to recall Mayor Mike Dunnigan and one of it's city councilmen Dan White came up short Tuesday night. There were 74 votes to recall Dunnigan however there were 193 to keep him in office. As for Dan White there were 78 votes for the recall and 179 against. The recall effort began late in 2012 after some city residents accused Dunnigan and White of "Misappropriating Funds". An allegation Dunnigan denied to KHQ. Tensions boiled over between Dunnigan and Mullan resident Jeff Bergstrom in August of 2012. Bergstrom spearheaded the recall effort. Bergstrom posted a video to YouTube showing Dunnigan shouting expletives at him after Bergstrom confronted Dunnigan with the allegations. Dunnigan has since apologized for his "outburst" in a letter sent to Mullan city residents. He previously told KHQ that the video was "not his finest moment". Shoshone County officials still need to make the vote official on Wednesday.
