The downpour outside did not keep day campers and strawberry pickers alike from heading outdoors Thursday. For the girls at the Girl Scout Summer Day Camp program, a few of the activities were changed, but it did not stop the fun. Some of the older girls geared up with rain boots and umbrellas for their field trip out to a wildlife refuge in Cheney, while inside there were different sprinkles. The younger girls decorated cupcakes, played a game called freeze dance, and showed of their craft skills. Also Thursday, only a few brave souls ventured out into the fields on Siemers Farm in Green Bluff to pick berries for strawberry season. The fields opened last week for eager berry pickers, but with the rain there were only a couple of people out in the fields. However, while the rain is not great for bringing is customers, it does help the strawberries grow.
