KHQ.COM - On Tuesday Eureka County Sheriff's Deputies surrounded a hotel that a Spokane fugitive was staying at in Eureka, Nevada. He's identified as Daniel Camp.
Sheriff Ken Jones tells KHQ's Dylan Wohlenhaus that while deputies had the hotel surrounded, Camp went into the bathroom and shot himself.
No gunfire was exchanged. Camp is now listed in critical condition at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. The Eureka County Sheriff's Office were told by the FBI that Camp may be in their area.
Soon after the call, deputies found Camp's car at a mechanic shop. They were then led to the hotel Camp was staying at.
Sheriff Jones says he believes Camp was only in Eureka for two days. Camp went on the run from authorities in Eastern Washington in mid April.
Camp was scheduled to be sentenced for sharing and possessing images of child pornography on April 16th but he never showed.
Investigators say he left a note behind indicating he wanted to start a new life. Camp is also the author of two novels depicting children in sexual situations. The investigation has now been handed to the FBI.
