SPOKANE, Wash. - John Castro has been convicted of 2nd Degree Murder, Felony Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Felony Rioting in connection with the November 2011 shooting death of 21-year-old Moses Lake resident Jose Solis.
Castro faces life in prison because of two previous felony convictions that qualify him for the Washington's three-strikes law.
Security at the Spokane County Courthouse has been heightened during Castro's trial because of possible gang ties.
Earlier this month, Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives arrested three men for allegedly tampering with witnesses at the murder trial of John Castro.
Tvar L. Jackson, 33, Barry J. Gardner, 34, and Israel L. Jones, 34, were arrested and charged with Witness Tampering. The three are accused of communicating with witnesses during the trial.
