SPOKANE, Wash - Law enforcement in Pullman and Moscow say within the last six months they've seen more movement of the drug nicknamed "Molly". Spokane County Detectives echo the same thing. Molly is a form of MDMA, the drug used in Ecstasy, which sometimes can be laced with other drugs. It comes in a crystal or powder form and can be inserted in to capsules. Spokane law enforcement says Molly can have several street names, including "Sas", "Sassafras" and "Licorice". Local authorities say the drug can be extremely dangerous especially in warm conditions. According to the National Drug Abuse institute, Molly creates emotional stimulation, warmth, and empathy towards others. Adverse affects include, anxiety, depression & aggression among others.
The Chelan County coroner has identified a 21-year-old Washington State University student who died after a weekend music festival at the Gorge Amphitheatre. Coroner Wayne Harris said no injuries or pre-existing medical conditions were found to have caused the death of Patrick Witkowski of Des Moines, Wash. Authorities said dozens were treated after overdosing on Molly at the Paradiso Festival.
