Spokane County Sheriff's Department Press Release: On Monday night, April 8, 2013, at 10:00 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputy M. Brownell was looking for 44-year-old Raymond Wheatley on the South Hill. Deputy Brownell was very familiar with Wheatley and confirmed he an active felony warrant for his arrest though Sheriff's dispatch. Deputy Brownell developed information Wheatley was in an apartment at the complex located at 2800 E. 27th Ave. Once Deputy Brownell confirmed Wheatley was in the apartment, he wrote a search warrant to enter the apartment and arrest him. This decision was made due to the violent history Wheatley has had with local law enforcement over the past 22 years. The Spokane County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team was utilized to serve the warrant. After the team announced their presence, Wheatley made the intelligent decision to come out on his own and was taken into custody without incident. Wheatley was booked into the Spokane County Jail for the new charge of felony violation of an order (prior conviction), a District Court bench warrant, and one additional felony warrant for his arrest. Wheatley also has a hold through the Department of Corrections.
